Zipaquirá is a town about an hour outside of Bogotá. It's small but the main attraction is a cathedral carved from salt (or, rock that's 80% salt). Apparently the salt was left over from an ancient sea that evaporated, and then got folded into the earth when mountains formed. Then somehow the native cultures found it and got rich exporting the salt, and then when the settlers came in they carved an underground church, which is quite impressive!
